MatchWorks and DSA partner to increase inclusion in employment
MatchWorks will continue its support of Disability Sports Australia (DSA) for a second year, proudly becoming the organisation’s Impact Partner.
The national partnership will continue to explore the co-design of new initiatives and programs to support people with disability to achieve employment outcomes through participation in the sport and leisure sector.
“MatchWorks prides itself on building genuinely inclusive communities and working alongside DSA to deliver many benefits to our communities,” said Veronica Killick, MatchWorks General Manager, Disability Employment Services.
“We are thrilled to be growing our connection with DSA through this partnership and building on the exciting work we have recently undertaken together.
“We know every connection counts and this is another example of leveraging opportunities to help enrich the lives of others,” she said.
Over the past year, the two organisations have collaborated on a variety of initiatives, including:
- Delivering the Reimagining Disability Employment and Volunteering forums where speakers from across the sector presented on how sport can support more people with disability to find employment in the industry. These forums, attended by 125 community sport clubs, were held in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.
- MatchWorks staff training and engagement through experiential learning and team building opportunities at the 2023 Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Championship,
- Disability Sports Australia supporting the MatchWorks pilot Employment Unleashed program.
- The MatchWorks team volunteering at a variety of Abilities Unleashed events.
Ayden Shaw, CEO of Disability Sports Australia, said the organisation is thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with MatchWorks.
“Together, we will promote inclusion, meaningful engagement in sport, whether through playing, volunteering, or other forms of participation,” he said. “This will contribute to stronger employment opportunities for people with disability and a broader social impact across the community.”
The partnership between MatchWorks and Disability Sports Australia is designed to be mutually beneficial, driving impact and value for both organisations while contributing to broader social change and inclusion.
Together, we are committed to creating a more inclusive and supportive community for people with disability. We look forward to the positive changes and opportunities this partnership will continue to bring.
