From Homelessness to Hope – Peter’s Inspiring Journey
When Peter walked through the doors of the MatchWorks Cranbourne Workforce Australia office, he was facing one of the most difficult periods of his life, homelessness. With no stable housing and all his Centrelink payments going toward temporary motel accommodation, Peter was left with little to cover basic living needs.
The MatchWorks team quickly put a support plan in place to address Peter’s immediate needs. He was referred to housing and community services to help stabilise his situation.
Despite the hardship, Peter remained determined to find work. He was willing to try new things and fully committed to the job search process. Working closely with his Employment Consultant, they updated his resume, set achievable goals, and explored how MatchWorks could support his journey back into employment.
That determination paid off and. With the guidance and support of the MatchWorks team, Peter successfully secured a job as a delivery driver with Coles giving him not only a fresh start but also a renewed sense of purpose. MatchWorks supported him throughout the onboarding process, helping him obtain a police check and provided essential work-related items to ensure he was ready for day one.
Peter is now thriving in his new role and continues to receive Post Placement Support to help him stay on track.
His story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, compassion, and commitment, people can overcome even the toughest challenges.
