Finding the right fit – Jack’s employment success
Inclusive Employment Australia participant Jack connected with the Gosford MatchWorks team for support with gaining employment. Jack had interests and strengths aligned with manufacturing and warehousing, along with some past experience. Employer Engagement Partner Rowan worked closely with Jack to develop a plan and actively connect him with employers.
After some time reverse marketing Jack to employers, he was presented with an opportunity as a Machine Operator at Kitchen Group. While Jack was excited about the opportunity, upon onboarding it soon became clear that some of the machine operating tasks weren’t the best match for his strengths. Rather than letting this become a barrier, MatchWorks worked collaboratively with Kitchen Group to find a solution.
Through ongoing support and discussions, a new role was created specifically for Jack, allowing him to complete different tasks within the factory that better suited his abilities.
The results have been overwhelmingly positive. Jack is now thriving in his role, enjoying the work, and contributing confidently to the team. He is employed full-time on full award wages, marking a significant milestone in his employment journey and supporting his financial stability.

For Jack, employment means more than just a job. He shared,

Jack and Kitchen Group will continue to be supported by Rowan and In Work Mentor Madeline through a collaborative post-placement support approach.
