IWD 2026: Caline’s story – creating meaningful work and empowering women

This International Women’s Day, we proudly embrace the theme: celebrating all women and championing their safety, voice, and empowerment.

It’s an opportunity to highlight the vibrant diversity of women’s experiences and to reaffirm our commitment to a future where every woman is safe, heard, and empowered.

Caline’s journey highlights empowerment in action, showing how the right support can create meaningful, lasting change.

As a participant of the Inclusive Employment Australia program, Caline entered the cleaning industry as a self-employed worker to create flexible work that supported her to manage her health conditions. In doing so, she pursued employment that aligned with her wellbeing and aspirations.

With guidance from MatchWorks and her employment consultant Maeghan, Caline set clear goals, gained her White Card, and began taking on newly built house cleans. Through focus and persistence, she built a sustainable business and created work that was meaningful, providing purpose, financial independence, and the opportunity to contribute her skills in a way that supported her wellbeing.

Today, Caline not only maintains successful cleaning contracts, but she has also expanded her business and now employs three staff, working alongside other women and intentionally creating flexible, supportive employment opportunities. Her business is now a space where women can feel valued, capable, and supported.

Caline shared,

“MatchWorks have been really positive and supportive of me starting my own business. They have been a great resource for information I was not aware of! It’s been great to have a vision and have someone believe in me! I am thankful for all the support and encouragement I have received to help achieve my goals along the way!“

Caline’s ambition is to continue growing as an inclusive employer, providing opportunities for other women living with a health condition, injury or disability, advancing equality and expanding opportunities for women.

Maeghan, Employment Consultant at MatchWorks, said,

“Caline came to MatchWorks full of determination to succeed. What can be a difficult feat for many, Caline is thriving in small business operations, and it has been wonderful to support her throughout this journey.”

Caline continues to receive ongoing support as her employment dream grows, showing how meaningful employment empowers women to strengthen financial security, build confidence, and create opportunity for others.

This International Women’s Day, we recognise that when women are supported to access their rights, pursue equality, and build economic independence, the impact extends far beyond one individual. It strengthens families, workplaces, and communities.

Whether you are seeking employment, exploring new opportunities, or aiming to start your own business, our team is here to provide guidance, resources, and encouragement to help you achieve your goals and build work that reflects your strengths and goals.
