MatchWorks staff and job seekers enjoy boot camp

MatchWorks Queensland job seeker Jason Webster says engaging with employers, industry professionals and other job seekers at Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth’s Job Seeker Boot Camp was a valuable experience.

Jason was among a group of job seekers who participated in the boot camp at the Bracken Ridge Tavern last month, with attendees enjoying the opportunity to network with employers and gain resume and interview feedback from local business leaders.

Jason said he gained valuable insights about finding employment from the two-hour seminar.

“It was a good seminar for jobseekers as there were industry professionals and HR and employment specialists that gave valuable information in how to pursue employment in their chosen fields and what employers look for in applicants,” he said.

“Each of the five panellists gave a speech folded by a Q & A session in which interesting pointers were raised regarding job seeking and interview preparation.

“This was followed by a networking session in which those attending could talk one-on-one with the industry specialists and ask questions and give resumes and exchange contact details.”

MatchWorks Queensland Employer Solutions Consultant Cindy Rawiri said the unique event was inspiring.

“I would like to say that the staff of MatchWorks and job seekers all walked away feeling inspired and more knowledgeable in knowing expectations and steps to success,” she said.

“Thank you Luke and to your staff for inviting MatchWorks and giving our job seekers such a positive impact to their confidence and ability to win employment.”
