Taylor discovering her potential in nurturing others

A need to find casual work in a supportive environment led Taylor Ellul to MatchWorks Melton in July 2018. Born with cerebral palsy that limits her range of movement in one hand, and wearing hearing aids, Taylor had been left feeling unwelcome at a previous job interview.

Yet, the resilient jobseeker remained determined to find a job where she could put her passion for teaching to work. With the help of MatchWorks, Taylor found an opportunity at Early Learning Child Care and Kindergarten where she now helps children meet their full potential.

The feedback from Taylor’s employer is overwhelmingly positive.

“Taylor has a great rapport with the children and educators she works alongside,” supervisor Kylie Stella said.

“It’s a pleasure to watch her grow and develop the skills she needs to succeed in the childcare field.”

Taylor couldn’t be happier in her chosen career.

“The people at MatchWorks have helped me gain the confidence to be able to follow my career choice and they continue to support me in every way they can,” Taylor said.

“I can’t thank them enough for helping me to achieve my goals towards my childcare career.”

This role is the ideal fit for Taylor who works 11 hours a week at the centre while also completing her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. For Taylor’s mother Phyllis, the support of the MatchWorks team has been pivotal in making her daughter’s work and study experience enjoyable.

“We were always worried if Taylor would be given opportunities to work and study. These wonderful people not only made that possible but have given Taylor the confidence and the right tools,” Phyllis said.
