Sole parents supported in new MatchWorks employment program

A new MatchWorks employment program began today, which is aimed at sole parents returning to work who live in the Corio area.

MatchWorks Executive Director Renae Lowry said the 17-week Principal Carer Parent Program will provide entry level work skills to the participants, including job search assistance and employability skills.

“The program participants will also work on building healthy relationships, developing sustainable life skills, the importance of good role models and utilising personal goal attainment to progress to employment,” she said.

“Additionally, support will be provided to link the participant’s with relevant skills-based training.”

Federal Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson MP visited and spoke to the group during their first session.

The Principal Carer Parent Program has received funding from the Australian Government, Department of Employment.
