From overwhelmed to employed, Marion finds her confidence again

In 2025, single mum Marion connected with the Workforce Australia South East Brisbane team after many years dedicated to raising her children. Having last worked in 2006, and experiencing some things in life that made it difficult to know where to begin, returning to work felt overwhelming.

With support from the MatchWorks team, Marion began rebuilding her confidence and employability skills while exploring flexible work options that suited her family life. After identifying career paths aligned with her interests and transferable skills, she enrolled in a Certificate III in Administration to upskill.

Soon after, Marion secured stable housing, providing much-needed stability and strengthening her determination to find a job she could balance alongside her studies.

With guidance from her Employment Consultant, Carly, Marion practised interviews and applied for retail roles. In September, she successfully secured a position with Chemist Warehouse and has since received Post Placement Support to help her transition into and sustain employment.

The MatchWorks team are incredibly proud of Marion’s progress, marking a significant milestone in her return to the workforce and her journey toward confidence, skills development, and financial independence.
