Building a Future in Fitness

In celebration of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we’re excited to share the inspiring story of Lewis, a dedicated participant with MatchWorks Pinjarra.

Lewis has been part of our program for two years, and his journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and the importance of a strong support network.

Living with Autism, OCD, and ADHD, Lewis has faced challenges throughout his life, but his commitment to pursuing his career in fitness has driven him to overcome obstacles and build a brighter future. Through his hard work, determination, and the support of his Employment Consultant, Tealah, and the MatchWorks team, Lewis is on the path to a successful career in the fitness industry.

When Lewis first joined us, he knew he wanted to work in the fitness industry. Through career discovery, he enrolled in a Certificate III and IV in Fitness. However, the journey wasn’t always easy. Technology struggles, in particular, were a source of frustration, but with the support of his Employment Consultant, Tealah, and the MatchWorks team, Lewis stuck with it.

His hard work paid off when he landed a job at Anytime Fitness, a local gym. Together with MatchWorks, Lewis created a plan to gradually increase his work hours. As his confidence grew, so did his vision for the future. Lewis now dreams of owning his own gym, traveling the world, and building a long-term career in fitness.

Looking back, Lewis can see how far he’s come and is proud of his progress.

With continued support from MatchWorks, Lewis is on track to build a successful career in fitness. His journey proves that with the right support and a strong sense of purpose, any challenge can be overcome.

We’re excited to continue supporting Lewis as he shapes his future in the fitness industry and we can’t wait to see where his journey takes him next.
