When MatchWorks team member Ted Ditching reached out to My Plan Manager, it was to develop an initial strategy on how to employ just one candidate from the Disability Employment Services (DES) program.

“Claire was very receptive of not only filling a vacancy, but developing a strong, long-term partnership with MatchWorks that would be mutually beneficial,” Ted said.

“As a result, My Plan Manager has hired three outstanding candidates who, in the past, have all experienced varying barriers to employment due to a disability or mental health issues.”

Belinda is one MatchWorks candidate employed who has been using a wheelchair since birth due to a Pseudoachondroplasia .

My Plan Manager and MatchWorks ensured access throughout the office space was accommodated.

Belinda had a strong background in web and social media management, so a role was crafted for her at 15 hours a week to assist the development and implementation of My Plan Manager’s new mobile app.

Claire Wittwer-Smith says that employing candidates through the MatchWorks DES program has not only added value to the daily operation of My Plan Manager, but has provided her a point of difference.

“We now have individuals with a disability, supporting people with a disability,” Claire said.
