Hastings job seeker loves new employment

Hastings job seeker Sarah came to MatchWorks in October 2015 wanting to turn her life around after facing several personal difficulties.

Sarah, who is a single parent, was experiencing A&OD issues at the time of her MatchWorks appointment and was also unemployed for six years.

MatchWorks Hastings Employment Consultant Jennifer Reid assisted Sarah to make a GP appointment for a mental health plan and, following this, her life started to improve. Jennifer said Sarah started to attend her appointments on a more regular basis and kept in contact.

“Also with each appointment her appearance improved and she began to care how she was dressed and if her hair was neat and tidy. She was on time for her appointments and said she decided that she wanted more for herself and her son,” Jennifer said.

“Sarah started applying for jobs on her own and let me know when she had arranged interviews. On January 23, Sarah contacted me to advise that she had been for an interview and later confirmed that she had been offered a casual role of cleaner/cook and would commence on January 30.

“More than two months on and the employer is very happy with Sarah and said she was a lovely young lady, she was working very hard and they all enjoyed having her on board.”

MatchWorks Hastings will continue to support Sarah, who said she loves her job and it’s the best thing that has happened to her in a while.
