Fitting job providing Joanne newfound self-confidence

Joanne Steptoe’s life has changed significantly since approaching MatchWorks just over 12 months ago.

The Redcliffe mother had found it difficult to find work to fit around her circumstances. Joanne lives with a number of health challenges and is also the primary carer for her special needs child and mother. Determined to work, Joanne reached out to MatchWorks and has now found a new career as a paid carer.

With newfound self-confidence and a passion for helping others, Joanne enjoys the flexibility her role has and chooses to work three to four days each week.

“My favourite part of my job is the variety of people I meet. There’s a large range of ages, personalities and varying support needs,” Joanne said.

“Finding a job I do so well and that others appreciate me for has given me the confidence to make other rewarding choices in my personal life with less fear.”

Jobactive Employment Consultant Toni Jones credits Joanne’s success to her positive outlook on life.

“Joanne has always had an optimistic attitude towards life no matter how difficult things were,” Toni said.

“She is very much a people person and has a kind heart. MatchWorks has always received positive feedback from her employer.”

To help her thrive at work, MatchWorks assisted Joanne in getting orthotics that were necessary for her health.

Congratulations to Joanne, who will soon meet her 26-week employment milestone.
