COVID Update – changes to service delivery and mutual obligations

Victoria Update

Now that Stage 4 restrictions are in place across Victoria, all Melbourne metropolitan offices are closed.

Remote servicing via phone or online is still available across Victoria. To keep our communities safe, face-to-face appointments are currently unavailable across all Victorian sites.

All other States/Territories

Our offices in NSW, ACT, QLD, WA and SA remain open and remote servicing via phone and online remains in place. Only in exceptional circumstances will face-to-face appointments be arranged.

Mutual Obligations

Mutual Obligations still apply for job seekers living in Victoria. Job seekers are therefore still encouraged to connect with employment services providers over the phone or online. However, there are no penalties or suspensions if you can’t.

For the other states and territories, mutual obligations are gradually being reintroduced. As of 4 August, job seekers outside of Victoria are expected to:

  • attend job appointments with providers online or over the phone
  • agree to a Job Plan
  • look for work and take part in activities if it’s safe to do so.

Your payment won’t be affected if you can’t do these things. However, financial penalties will apply in cases where an offer of suitable employment is declined without an acceptable reason. For more information, please visit the Services Australia website.
