Cats Match inspiring new careers for young Geelong job seekers

MatchWorks and the Geelong Cats have again partnered to deliver an inspirational employment, health and wellbeing program for Geelong youth.

Seventy-six young job seekers have participated in the successful program over the past four years. Participants are supported to build their confidence and skills, and leave the program job-ready and equipped to make healthier life choices.

Tamara-Rose Barker shared how the program has helped change her life.

“Having a job now is amazing, I love it. I have the best boss, the colleagues are amazing, I’ve made heaps of friends, I’ve become more independent and yeah, I’ve built more confidence in myself,” Tamara said.

‘I wouldn’t be where I am today without the Cats Match program’.

Earlier this year, Cats Match participants took part in a Q&A and a fitness session with Jed Bews and Darcy Fort. Participants also caught up with Darcy and Gryan Miers via Zoom to chat about how to keep active and maintain a positive mindset through COVID.

Employment skills training included business and social etiquette, increased self-awareness, makeovers, interview skills, recruitment techniques and much more.
