Bendigo job seeker finds motivation to achieve employment goals
Bendigo job seeker Jordan came to MatchWorks in July 2015 lacking the motivation and confidence to find employment.
He had no future goals, no driver’s licence, limited reading and writing skills and was experiencing anxiety, stress and lack of sleep.

MatchWorks employment consultant Jane Hamilton earmarked Jordan for the Indigenous employment program Deadly Yakka. Jordan spent time addressing his mental health barriers prior to commencing in the program in November 2016. His ultimate goal was to become a truck driver.
“Deadly Yakka mentors worked with Jordan to address his barriers and he was offered a work trial in December 2016 with Emmitt’s Excavation, which was arranged by our Employer Solutions Consultant Deb Pell. As part of the trial the employer was given the background on Jordan’s major barriers to work and Jordan was funded with some interview clothes. The employer agreed to employ Jordan after a two-week work trial, but only if he got his driver’s licence,” Jane said.
“MatchWorks organised for Jordan to obtain his White Card, PPE and booked him in for driving lessons. Jordan gained his probationary driver’s licence in early January 2017.”
Jordan was employed in February 2017 and said he enjoys the work, his colleagues and he is close to achieving his ultimate goal of gaining his HR truck licence. He will also work towards completing Skid Steer (Bobcat) & Excavator training with continued support from MatchWorks.
