MatchWorks staff are caring, hard-working and understanding, many of whomhave previously worked in the industry your business is in. MatchWorks aim to hire people who have a real understanding of the issues you face in your business. They know and understand the qualities you need in your staff and can speak your language.

Rachel Barry’s dedication to helping severely disadvantaged job seekers find work has led to her being announced as one of three national finalists for the 2010 Employment Consultant of the Year Award in the prestigious National Employment Awards for Excellence.

EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT
MatchWorks Indigenous Employment Consultant Irene Sazdov was recognised by peak body, National Employment Services Association (NESA) at their Excellence Awards held on the Gold Coast in 2015. The specialist Indigenous consultant won Employment Consultant of the Year after an outstanding 12 months representing her Indigenous community through her work with MatchWorks.

Geelong job seekers show off culinary skills

Parents from the Geelong region have been enrolled by MatchWorks in a fun 7-week cooking course as part of the MatchWorks Principal Carer Parent Program.The parents, who are preparing to return to work, are completing the home cooking course at Jamie's Ministry of Food in Geelong in order to develop skills required to make healthy meals for their families in a time efficient manner. Last week they learnt how to cook chicken fajitas from scratch.

MatchWorks Disability Employment Services sites achieve outstanding results

MatchWorks DES sites in Victoria and South Australia have received their performance results for the end of the December 2016 Star Rating period. Some highlights include the Preston, Flemington and Morphett Vale (SA) sites receiving the maximum 5 stars, while Corio, Torquay, Ocean Grove, Elizabeth (SA), and Broadmeadows sites achieved 4 stars.

Warrnambool job seeker Jacob has turned his life around by putting a plan in place to address his barriers to work. When Jacob first came to MatchWorks Warrnambool he disclosed that he has Bipolar disorder, which he is managing with medication, exercise and diet. He also had limited support from family.

Ringwood restaurant showcases disability employment opportunity

A Ringwood restaurant has teamed with MatchWorks to host an evening of disability employment promotion, which has been described as a "raging success". A group of eight MatchWorks Disability Employment Services (DES) clients participated in the evening at The Cellar Door last week. They worked in both front-of-house and kitchen roles to serve more than 40 guests with a three-course meal.

Joel realises employment goals

A struggle with language, literacy and numeracy was an open problem for Joel when he first walked through the doors of Karingal Training Sunshine, but he was determined to explore new work opportunities through education.

With the help of a dedicated Karingal Training trainer, Genevieve, he completed two job ready qualifications and a work placement and is now happily working for Home Instead Senior Care.

Local achievers celebrated for ability

Six outstanding achievers were celebrated for their contributions to the community at the Geelong Awards for People with a Disability ceremony last month at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.

This year's honours went to Simone Stevens for Volunteering, Annaliese Bishop for Sports and Recreation, Nicci Wall for Leadership and Advocacy, Ryan Schmidtke for Achievement, and Michael Chan for Arts, while the Young Achiever award was presented to Chloe Hayden.
