Nominations in for National Employment Services Industry Awards

Kristie Yarwood, from MatchWorks in Melbourne, has been nominated for a National Employment Services Award for Excellence in the Employment Consultant of the Year category.

With more than 40 000 people working in 1500 office locations Australia-wide in the Employment Services Industry liaising with another 15 000 CentreLink staff, more than one million Australians are reached every year.

Kristie is one of those at the coal face of the industry whose commitment and innovation is helping Australia’s unemployed to find jobs.

National Employment Services Association’s CEO, Sally Sinclair, said the awards are the peak recognition for those working in the employment services industry.

“They highlight the commitment this industry has made to improve the well-being of our community, the excellent levels of service offered and the very real successes resulting from their hard work and innovation,” Ms Sinclair said.

She said the industry has changed substantially over the past few years, spurred by the introduction of a wide range of initiatives and approaches for the provision of employment services to Australians.

“These changes are raising the service levels expected for organisations and individuals directly involved in the delivery of employment services. Job seekers, employers, the government, and educational organisations are among the many benefactors,” Ms Sinclair concluded.

In addition to the Employment Consultant of the Year Award, other categories include: Champion Employer of the Year; Achiever of the Year; and for the first time in 2006; the Innovation and Service Excellence Award, for exemplary teamwork in the employment service provision area.

The 2006 Annual National Employment Services Awards for Excellence will be announced at a gala dinner with more than 600 Industry leaders in attendance on Thursday 3 August, at the Sydney Town Hall.
