In 2002 Geelong’s first juice bar was opened. Four years on, family owned and operated business Juicy Stuff, has gone from strength to strength.
When Leigh Van Ingen opened his first shop in Moorabool Street, Geelong, he had no idea the business would be such a success. With additional shops now in Pakington Street and Corio, the business’s success speaks for itself.
“We are a family owned and operated business: We do everything. This is why we have been successful because we love what we do,” says Leigh.
“Nearly all of our part-time and full-time staff we get through MatchWorks. The free service that MatchWorks provides is fantastic.”
MatchWorks Business Development Officer, Richard Johnson, works with Leigh to find the right staff for Juicy Stuff. Richard looks for job seekers who are enthusiastic, friendly and have great customer service skills.
“I have been working with Rich for two years now and he is great. I know if I need staff I can just give him a call,” says Leigh.
“The extra assistance from MatchWorks means that my partner Liz and I can spend more time with baby Louis. Louis can come into work and help with the books,” says Leigh smiling.
“Many of the people we get through MatchWorks just need someone to give them a chance. The people Rich has got for us have been really good and the skills they learn from working with us provide a great platform for them to move into other career areas.”
What does the future hold for this entrepreneur and his family?
“Well we don’t want the business to get too big,” says Leigh surveying the store and looking down at Louis. “We want to be able to make sure each shop is successful and that we can spend as much time as possible together with Louis as a family”.
