What are Sponsor Organisations?

Sponsor Organisations work with Community Work Coordinators, such as MatchWorks, to create work experience opportunities for job seekers in not-for-profit or community placements.

What is the difference between a Sponsor and a Host?

A Sponsor Organisation may want to place participants in another organisation to provide the placement. In this case, they would place the participants with a Host organisation. Host organisations must be not-for-profit and will be responsible for the day to day supervision of participants. The Sponsor organisation performs administrative functions on behalf of the Host organisation.

What would I, as a Sponsor Organisation, need to do?

As a Sponsor Organisation you will need to create a Work for the Dole activity proposal to be submitted to your Community Work Coordinator (MatchWorks). During a Work for the Dole activity, Sponsor Organisations will provide:

  • A safe work environment and supervision;
  • All necessary training;
  • Recording and reporting participant attendance; and
  • Valuable skills and work experiences that benefit the community.

Will it cost me to become involved?

As a Sponsor Organisation, you will need to provide the workplace and supervision. However material used by participants and other expenditures can be reimbursed by the Community Work Coordinator (MatchWorks). Sponsor Organisations need to keep evidence of all expenditure.

Why would I become a Sponsor Organisation?

As a Sponsor Organisation, you will have access to work ready people and financial support to complete community activities you may not have had the resources for otherwise.

How can I find out more?

Talk to the Community Work staff at MatchWorks or log onto www.workplace.gov.au for more information.
