Karingal Community Living offers respite to the families and carers of people with a disability on both a planned and an emergency basis. This support is also offered to the carers of people with a mental illness on a planned basis.
This support is offered to provide short term breaks for the primary care-giver while providing a positive experience for the person with a disability or mental illness.
Respite is offered at Karingal Community Living facilities, in the individual’s home and also in the community.
- Facility based respite - Overnight respite with the person with a disability or mental illness staying at a Karingal Community Living facility
- Home based respite - Support is given in the home while the primary caregiver takes a break.
- Community access respite - Support is provided in the community while the primary caregiver takes a break - this can include group activities, camps and holidays
