Homefirst was developed to support people with a disability to live independently and in their own home.  This flexible support enables an individual with a disability to:

  • Live independently and not require full time care or staff
  • Remain living in their own home
  • Increase or maintain maximum independence
  • Move to more independent living arrangements
  • Access community activities and facilities

Homefirst can provide support for up to 34 hours a week.  Homefirst can also provide immediate temporary support where a persons needs may increase temporarily.

Homefirst can offer the following support services: 

  • Personal care - Assistance with bathing, hygiene, toileting, grooming and dressing.
  • Community access - Assistance with using recreation and leisure facilities, as well as business and community facilities such as banks, shops and medical services.  Karingal Community Living can also support an individual with interactions and social development within their own community.
  • Other support - Assistance with cooking, laundry, managing household finances as well as support in decision making and daily problem solving.
