Workplace Big Day Out
| The Workplace Big Day Out (WBDO) brings people with disabilities from various agencies together with employee volunteers from the business sector for a fun day of activities in a fully supported environment. This premier local event is held twice a year (summer & winter) and is designed to introduce businesses, and their employees, to the business and social potential of employee volunteering, in-kind support and other business-community partnerships. These partnerships strengthen our community in many ways and encourage local economic growth and social cohesion. |

WBDO Testimonials
“I think this is a great event and have learnt lots of things about what Karingal and BacLinks are doing. I am really proud to be a part of the Karingal family”
Employee Volunteer (Anon)
"...The event was well organised and I personally gained a great deal from the day, especially the hands-on-approach of dealing with clients with special abilities. It provided me with a greater insight on how exceptional the clients’ carers are; very special individuals. I would certainly recommend volunteering to others and will participate again. It is certainly one of the most worthy community sponsorships that Shell Geelong has and is providing."
Bob Ackland, Shell Refining Australia Pty Ltd
“The more businesses who get involved can only see the community grow in understanding and value of diversity.”

"What an incredible and entertaining experience...the BacLinks Workplace Big Day Out! ...I must admit I was a little apprehensive about the day ahead. I was greeted with big smiles and a bright red cap and t-shirt - this gave me some reassurance as to what the day would entail...For me it was a humbling, but inspirational experience, a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of people and reinforce a positive outlook. I would fully recommend this day to anyone."
Chris Hindle, Barwon Water
“I have never participated in anything else like this before and was grateful for the experience…”

“It was great meeting new people and seeing them as people first - then the disability”

"For myself, it was a day where I learned a lot and put into action my personal belief that our worth as human beings is not defined by what we can do or what we possess but rather by our very own existence as unique individuals."
Michael Lee, Shell Refining Australia Pty Ltd
"I was really impressed with how well-organised the event was...It was my first time to spend time with people with different abilities, and I must say I was a little nervous at the start. Participating in the WBDO made me feel a great sense of achievement...I also felt that the activities actually served as a great teambuilding exercise".
Mio Seamder, Recipe For Happiness
"It took me completely out of my comfort zone and that’s always valuable in terms of personal growth".

“Very definitely requires patience and teamwork which I will be taking back to my workplace”
